Five Proven Ways To Promote Your Web Site

Traffic is the lifeblood of a web site and getting traffic is the one constant battle all site owners are fighting on a daily basis. I am sure you receive numerous invitations to join clubs or Safelists etc. that “guarantee” you traffic, but these are fleeting and not really getting you good, qualified targeted traffic you want. Here are a few tips from my book on how to get the traffic you want:

1. Holding a contest or sweepstakes is an proven way to promote your web site. You can announce your site to hundreds of web sites that list free contests and sweepstakes. Send out a press releases about your contest or sweepstakes. Ask entrants to your contest or sweepstakes if they would accept offers from your business in the future by e-mail.

2. Use online chat rooms to promote your web site. Find the right chat room where your targeted audience would gather. Announce to everyone in the chat room something interesting or free that's offered on your web site. This will draw visitors to your web site. Always be aware of chat room rules before engaging the visitors in a sales pitch that could be considered spam.

3. Cross promote your web site with other sites. I try to find other web sites. that have the same target audience, but are not in direct competition with my business. Doing cross promotions with other businesses increases your profits, sales, and beat your competition. You can find businesses to cross promote all over the Internet.

4. You can easily promote your web site by using traffic generators. It could be a free e-zine, service, e- book, contest etc. Giving away traffic generators gives you the opportunity to get free advertising by including your ad on them . There are online directories that will also let you submit your freebie information. You can even let other people give away your traffic generators.

5. Posting messages to Social Site Discussion Forums is a great way to promote your web site A Social Site Discussion Forum is a group of people connected together via a particular Social Site (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc) that allows members to communicate with one another. When you post a message to a forum include your signature file at the end. Include an attention getting sentence why they should visit your web site.

How To Reduce Your Business Costs

Here we go into the final two months of the year and planning for the new year has begun. Even though one hears about the economy improving, one still needs to be smart about spending. Believe it or not you can cut your everyday business costs without really affecting your quality of life, or your business, if you are smart. Here are a few techniques that you can use.

1. Barter - If you have a business you should be bartering goods and services with other businesses. You should try to trade for something before you buy it. Barter deals usually require little or no money.

2. Network - Try networking your business with other businesses. You could trade leads or mailing lists. This will cut down on your marketing and advertising costs. You may also try bartering goods and services with them.

3. Wholesale/Bulk - You'll save money buying your business supplies in bulk quantities. You could get a membership at a wholesale warehouse or buy them through a mail order wholesaler. Buy the supplies you are always running out of.

4. Free Stuff - You should try visiting the thousands of freebie sites on the internet before buying your business supplies. You can find free software, graphics, backgrounds, online business services etc.

5. Borrow/Rent - Have you ever purchased business equipment you only needed for a small period of time? You could have just borrowed the equipment from someone else or rented the equipment from a "rent-all" store.

6. Online/Offline Auctions - You can find lower prices on business supplies and equipment at online and offline auctions. I'm not saying all the time, but before you go pay retail for these items try bidding on them first.

7. Plan Ahead - Make a list of business supplies or equipment you'll need in the future. Keep an eye out for stores that have big sales. Purchase the supplies when they go on sale before you need them.

8. Used Stuff - If your business equipment and supplies don't need to be new, buy them used. You can find used items at yard and garage sales, used stores, used stuff for sale message boards and newsgroups etc.

9. Negotiate - You should always try negotiate a lower price for any business equipment or supplies. It doesn't hurt to try. Pretend you are talking to a salesman at a car lot.

10. Search - You can always be searching for new suppliers for your business supplies and equipment. Look for suppliers with lower prices and better quality. Don't just be satisfied with a few.
