Rewarding Your Loyal Customers

The formula for success for any business is to get your customers to make repeat purchases. There are a number of factors involved for getting repeat customers: pricing, quality of products and services, excellent customer service etc. One of the best ways is to reward your customers for their repeat purchases. Here are three effective customer reward programs you could implement:

Number Of Purchases

This program is based on the number of purchases made by any customer. You could give away a free product or service to any customer that makes ten or more purchases. To make the program more effective you could require a set time period that all ten purchases must be made by.

Dollar Amount

You can require a certain dollar amount be spent before the customer receives a reward. Tell customers if they spend over $50 in one month at your web site they get a 50% discount on their next purchase. You could also just reward one customer who spends the most every month with a bigger reward like a vacation.

Points System

Reward customers a point for every one-dollar they spend. Lets say customers can get a free computer for 300 points. That means customers will spend $300 dollars on your products and services to get enough points to get the free computer. To push slower selling products or services just offer more points per dollar spent for those particular items.

The kind of rewards you give should depend on what your business can afford. Cheaper rewards could be gift certificates, coupons, promotional clothes (t-shirts, hats etc with your logo and name on them), ebooks, reports, audios, or movie passes. Expensive rewards could be jewelry, vacations, bed and breakfast gift certificates, electronics or computer equipment.

You may want to invest in a good database program to keep track of your rewards program. Open Office has a great integrated program called Base that is compatible with MS Office, but costs nothing. I also recommend contacting a legal professional for advice, set-up and the structure of your rewards program to ensure there are no miscommunications that can result in trouble.

I hope these ideas I've given you help make your business more successful.

How To Sell Your Products Faster

With the holiday season around the corner we all would love to amp up our sales. However we try we can only sell so much at a time. The secret is to get people to make their decisions faster. Here are some tips to help you.

1. Give people a deadline to order. Tell people if they order by a certain date, they will get a discount
or free bonuses. This will create an urgency so they don't put off buying.

2. Offer people a money back guarantee. The longer the guarantee the more effective it will be. It could be a 30 day, 60 day, 1 year, or lifetime guarantee.

3. Offer a free on-site repair service for products you sell. This is convenient for people because they won't have to send it away for repair and they won't have to be without the product for a long period of time.

4. Publish testimonials on your ad copy. They will give your business credibility and you'll gain peoples trust. It's important to include the persons full name and location with the testimonial. (Make sure you comply with the new federal rules concerning testimonials).

5. Give people free bonuses when they order your product or service. The free bonuses could be books,
jewelry, reports, newsletters, etc.

6. Allow people to make money reselling the product or service. Tell people they can join your affiliate
program, if they order. You could pay them per sale, per click, per referral, etc.

7. Offer free 24 hour help with all products you sell. Allow customers to ask you questions by e-mail, by toll free phone, by free fax, etc.

8. Provide free shipping with all orders. If you can't afford it, you could offer free shipping on orders over a specific dollar amount.

9. Give away a free sample of your product. You will gain people's trust when you allow them to try out a free sample of your product. If they like it they won't hesitate buying it.

10. Offer a buy one get one free deal. If you sell more than one product this type of deal works great.
People will feel they are getting more for their money and order quicker.

Give one or two a try and see what happens. These won't work unless you do.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to help with your marketing and sales efforts. Remember we're all in this together and I'm pulling for ya.

Getting Started on eBay - What You Need to Know.

Yes we all heard, read and probably even watched specials on the great eBay machine and how it has transformed the business arena. But what if you have been on the sidelines not sure how to get started? Well here's a little helpful guide to get you started.

So you've decided that you want to get started as a seller on eBay. There are a few things that you really need to know before you go and throw yourself in at the deep end.

What to Sell.

First off, you need to know what it is you're going to sell: what's your speciality? You'll do far better on eBay if you become a great source for certain kind of products, as people who are interested in those products will come back to you again and again. You won't get any loyalty or real reputation if you just sell rubbish at random.

When you think about what to sell, there are a few things to consider. The most important of these is to always sell what you know. If you try to sell something that you just don't know anything about then you'll never write a good description and sell it for a good price.

You might think you're not especially interested in anything, but if you think about what kind of things you usually buy and which websites you go to most often, I'm sure you'll discover some kind of interest. If all else fails mention it to your friends and family: they'll almost certainly say "Oh, well why don't you sell", and you'll slap your forehead.

Out of the things you know enough about, you should then consider which things you could actually get for a good enough price to resell, and how suitable they would be for posting. If you can think of something of that you're knowledgeable about and it's small and light enough for postage to be relatively cheap, then that's great!

Don't worry if you think the thing you're selling is too obscure - it isn't. There's a market for almost everything on eBay, even things that wouldn't sell once in a year if you stocked them in a shop. You'll probably do even better if you fill a niche than if you sell something common.

Tax and Legal Matters.

If you earn enough money, you should be aware that you're going to have to start paying tax - this won't be done for you. If you decide to sell on eBay on a full-time basis, you should probably register as a business.

Prepare Yourself.

There are going to be ups and downs when you sell on eBay. Don't pack it in if something goes a little wrong in your first few sales: the sellers who are successful on eBay are the ones who enjoy it, and stick at it whatever happens.

Anyone can sell on eBay, if they believe in themselves - and if you do decide it's not for you, then the start-up costs are so low that you won't really have lost anything.

If you're ready to start selling, then the next thing you need to know is the different auction types, so you can decide which ones you will use to sell your items. An upcoming article will give you a guide.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to assist you in your marketing efforts.

Make Your Ads COMMAND Attention

You have used my tips for sprucing up your copy, you've followed my advice for placing ads,now the next step is to make your ads stand out in todays market place. The problem is that too many people follow the same templates and they all look like they were made in an ad clone factory. SO how does one stick out? Well here's a few tricks you can try:

1. Place colorful graphs, pie charts and other charts in your ad copy. Use charts that will grab a persons
eye and also support your product claims.

2. Highlight buying incentives like free bonuses and money back guarantees. You could place them in
boxes or in front of a different colored background.

3. Use short sentences or sentence fragments in the body of your ad copy. A short burst of words can
catch a skimmers eye with one quick glance.

4. Highlight all the important keywords and phrases in your ad copy. You could use bolding, underlining and color to highlight the important words.

5. Place attention grabbing pictures above and within your ad copy. A powerful technique is to use before and after pictures of people using your product.

6. Use a headline that catches the attention of your target audience. One of the most effective ways is
to use a free offer as your headline.

7. Make your ad's keywords and phrases standout by enlarging the text. This technique works wonders
with headlines and sub headlines.

8. Make your products list of benefits and features stand out by using a symbol in front of each of them.
The symbol could be a dash, solid circle, star, etc.

9. Use sub headlines to break up your ad copy and to capture a skimmers eye. You could make them
even more powerful by highlighting them with color.

10. Use attention grabbing adjectives to describe your product. For example sizzling, incredible, high
power, ultramodern, killer, eye popping, etc.

Try out a few of these when you rewrite your ads and see the increased click throughs. They only work if you do.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to assist you in your marketing efforts. Remember we're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Make Their Eyes Pop, and Jaws Drop With These Ad Copy Secrets

Writing effective copy is the hardest thing to master when writing ads. Coming up with concepts, though hard in itself, seems like child's play in comparison (okay sometimes it is child's play, but you get my drift here). so what can one do to write more effective copy? Well here's a few thing you can try:

1. Use a hand written letter on your ad copy instead of text. Write the ad on a piece of paper, scan it and
publish the ad on your web page. Adding a personal touch will always increase your sales.

2. Publish a list of famous and respected customers who have bought from you on your a copy. People
will think that if these people bought from you, they should also trust your business and purchase your
products. Make sure to get their permission first.

3. Show before and after photos for your products on your web page copy. Show the problem picture
and then beside it, show the picture of the resolution to the problem when they use your product.

4. Include an article or review that has been written about you or your business with your ad copy. This
will show people that your business is respected and will increase your credibility.

5. When you offer free bonuses in your ad copy, also list the dollar value beside each bonus. People will feel they're getting a good deal and it will increase the value of your product.

6. Hire a famous person to endorse your product or service. Make sure the person is well known to your target audience. Include their picture and statements on your ad copy.

7. Include your own picture on your ad copy. This will show people that you're not hiding behind your
ad copy and will increase their trust. Also, include your contact information below the picture and a
brief statement or quote.

8. Tell your potential customers on your ad copy that you will donate a percentage of their purchase
price to specific charity. This will show them you really care about the people. They may just buy
your product to donate to the charity.

9. Ask your potential customers plenty of yes and no questions in your ad copy. The questions should
remind them of their problem and make them think about what will happen if they don't purchase your
product.

10. Tell your potential customers they will receive a free prize if they find the five words in your ad copy that are misspelled or spelled backwards. The longer you can keep someone reading your copy the greater chance of them purchasing.

I hope you find these tips useful and remember they only work if you do. Effort is the key to success, but only if you are working smarter.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to assist you in your marketing efforts. Remember we're all in this together and I'm pulling for ya.

Sizzling Ways To Improve Your Ad Copy

Writing ad copy is one of the most difficult, yet important piece of your business, whether online or offline. Improving your copy is key to an effective marketing campaign and generating sales. Want to make yours sizzle? Well here's a few tricks:

1. You could decrease or increase the length of your ad copy. There is no rule on how long your ad copy should be unless space is a consideration. The ad should be long enough to sell your product.

2. You could add some sub headlines on your ad copy. Sub headlines act just like headlines; they
grab the readers attention. They'll keep the readers interested as they continue to read your ad.

3. You could ask your reader questions through out the ad copy. They will answer the questions in their
own head as they read your ad copy. The questions you ask should persuade the reader into buying.

4. You could highlight keywords through out your ad copy. The keywords should be attractive to
your target audience. You could highlight them with color, underlines, italics, etc.

5. You could bullet or indent your benefits on your ad copy. Must people won't read a whole ad copy,
so make your products benefits standout and you won't lose the sales from all the skimmers.

6. You could change the size of your text on your ad copy. You want to make your text large enough
so it's not hard to read. You also want your headline and major points to be larger so they will standout.

7. You could raise or lower the price on your ad copy. A higher price could increase the perceived
value of your product and a lower price could lesson your product's value.

8. You could add proof of results on your ad copy. You should include testimonials, endorsements,
and factual statistics to prove your product's claims.

9. You could add special offers on your ad copy. It's usually easier to sell the offer than the product.
You could use discounts, free bonuses, volume sales, etc.

10. You could eliminate the hard-to-understand jargon on your ad copy. Unless your product calls
for technical words, you want your ad to be read without people pulling out a dictionary.

Try out a few and remember they won't work unless you do.

Come back next week for more tips tricks, and techniques to assist you in your marketing efforts. Remember we're all in this together and I'm pulling for ya.

Profiting From Twitter The Smart Way

Here's some tips on how you should be profiting from Twitter. If you want to learn how to obtain joint ventures, meet people you can produce products with, get people to promote your products and jump start your business all without forking over even a dime, then read on MacDuff.

And you can do all of this starting 60 minutes from now even if you don't know anyone to start, even if you don't have any sort of list to begin with, even if you're a newbie, even if you're a Mac or Linux user, even if you can't attend seminars, even if .... You get the idea.

While using Twitter, you will:

* Meet people who have lists, can help promote your product, and may even help move your business forward.

* Connect with people like you, give you a sense of community.

* Avoid the bickering, flaming, name calling, and arguing junk etc that goes on in forums these days. I hate most forums where a few people post all the time and become power brokers even if they're obnoxious, don't have any clue what they're doing and so forth. Forums also attract a lot of negativity.

Twitter is a totally different and refreshing experience.

Here are some great tips on getting the most out of Twitter.

1. Sign up at Twitter.com- It'll take you about 30 seconds.

2. Keep the negative junk off Twitter - treat others the way you want to be treated, be positive.

3. Follow people who are in your niche- click on "find people." ,type in names of people who write blogs in your niche, who have affiliate products and who are influencers, Click the "follow" link under their photo. This will let you see their tweets with other people.

4. Make friends- Do NOT go onto Twitter pitching people. Make friends. Be a sociable person.

5. Learn the art of the RT- RT stands for "retweet". There's a little icon that says RT. When you retweet someone's messsage, you're passing it on so the people on your list can see it.

6. Observe for a week - Spend a week or so just watching others and learning what happens on Twitter before you jump in head over heels.

7. Anything and I do mean anything you say can and will be retweeted- beware what you write it could come back and haunt you later.

8. Share your positive energy- positive energy attracts other positive people.

9. Give first- Do NOT ask people to promote you or your product. GIVE first. Offer to promote THEM!

10. If someone really annoys you, you can go to twitter.com, find their name and on the right side is link where you can block them.

11. Search for affiliate programs in your niche market. Find the names of the product creators and look 'em up on Twitter.

12. Offer viral ebooks and reports on Twitter.

13. When you run across a cool web site or resource tweet it to your list.

14. Go out of your way to promote others to your Twitter list. They'll reciprocate some time in some way.

15. Understand that in the big picture your goal is to find people who have lists and can promote your products then make friends with 'em. That's your ultimate objective. But you don't get there by ramming your product down people's throats. You get there by being an ATTRACTIVE PERSONALITY that others gravitate to.

16. Inspire others to go for it and pursue what they know they should pursue but don't have the courage to do it- Be a cheerleader for people's highest and best interests.

17. Do NOT end up twittering away time you really should be using to create products or do other promotions.

Use Twitter. Don't let it use you.

I hope you found these tips helpful. Comae back next week for more tips, tricks, and techniques to assist you in your marketing effort. Remember we're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Writing Profit Producing Ads

We all want to make sales, it's the life blood of any business. But i order to drive people to our site, store, show etc, we need to advertise. "Build it an d they will come" only works in fictional cornfields transformed into baseball fields not web sites or stores for that matter. But how does one write an ad that will produce the desired result? Here's a few ideas you can try:

1. You can get ad copy ideas by studying similar product's advertising material. Collect their sales
letters, classified ads, web ads, e-mail ads, etc.

2. Know exactly what you want your ad copy to accomplish. It could be to qualify prospects, make
sales, generate leads, attract web traffic, etc.

3. Make a complete list of your product's benefits and features. Begin your ad with the most important
benefit either in your headline or first sentence.

4. Make your ad benefits as specific as possible. Include exact numbers, percentages, times, colors,
smells, sounds, descriptive adjectives, etc.

5. List all the ways your product is different from your competition's. Include all the differences in
your ad copy that are better than their product.

6. Use graphics, pictures and drawings of people actually using your product to solve their problem.
Include a picture that also shows the results.

7. Make a list of your target audience. Write down what reasons would attract them to purchase your
product. Include those reasons in your ad copy.

8. Include any proven facts in your ad copy. They could be customer surveys, scientific tests, product
reviews, etc.

9. Tell your audience what kind of support they'll get after they buy. It could be free consulting, tech
support, free servicing, etc.

10. Ask people at the end of your copy why they decided not to buy. This will give you new ideas on
how to produce a more profitable ad copy.

These are just a few ways to create ads that will bring in the results you need. As always these are suggestions and will only work if you do.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to assist you in your marketing efforts. We're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Tweeting Your Business Message

Twitter is all the twitter these days. You can't watch, read or hear anything these days without someone asking you to follow them on Twitter. But what exactly is Twitter and how can one use it to promote their business?

Twitter is basically a free micro-blogging platform. It lets you tell the whole world what you are up to in 141 characters or less. There are millions of Twitter-addicts all over the world, and the number of active users increase exponentially every month. It is not only open for individuals, but companies can also use it to promote themselves as well..

On Twitter you will have people “following” you, and you will be “following” others. “Following” is being updated every time a new post is added to one of your contacts’ profiles. Being followed is the same; every time you have something to add, all your “followers” will be updated. The more people that follow you, the more exposure your business will get, theoretically that is.

But it’s not about adding as many people as you can to your friends list. You need to be smart about building your follower base. The problem is that many companies that try to market using Twitter don’t understand how this community works, and consequently their Twitter Marketing efforts don’t pay off as they end up following too many "questionable" followers.

To help you avert this fate, the following steps will guide you in understanding what to do and what not to do to give your company huge exposure using Twitter.

1) Import Your Contacts.

Twitter allows you to to import contacts from Gmail, Hotmail and your own address book. Do it as this will give you an immediate following. .

2) Make Sure that Your Profile is Complete

Fill in all the fields (both required and optional) and include your website URL. You can also personalize your Twitter page to match your company’s branding. Create a small "elevator pitch" for your bio section so people will know exactly who you are and why they should follow you.

Step 3: Understand the Dynamics of Twitter

Twitter is a social tool, not a classifieds site. Don’t spam others about your specials, but gently nudge them in that direction. Follow other user as they want the same thing you do after all. Be active in the community (tweet and post comments about others’ tweets often). Don’t tweet every 5 minutes. It becomes annoying. Engage in conversations. Retweet (reply to others’ tweets) often
Don’t promote your company directly. Do it the smart way. For example, if you sell widgets, write a buyer’s guide about the kind of widgets that you sell and tweet about that blog post. That is useful information. Avoid tweets like “Great Widgets On Sale – Starting at $9.99!”

Step 4: Build Your Followers Base

There are many things that you can do to build your followers base:
Put a link to “Follow Me on Twitter” everywhere (your email signature, forums, website, and business cards). Every time you post on your blog, invite people to follow you on Twitter. Search for Twitter users whose followers base you would love to have for yourself. See who is following them and follow those users. They will follow you back. See who is following your friends and follow them.
There are Twitter directories that are great to find members who are likely to follow you. Examples include Just Tweet It and Twellow. Use Twitter’s search feature to find profiles that interest you. Use Twitter’s RSS feed to be notified every time a tweet containing a certain keyword is made.

Step 5: Balance Your Followers/Following Ratio

Try to have a balance between people you follow and people that follow you. If a lot of people follow you and you don’t follow them, they will stop following you. If you are following plenty of people but just a few are following you, you’ll be seen as a spammer trying to grow your follower base as quickly as possible.

Step 6: Make it Worthwhile to Follow You

Tweet interesting stuff. Every time you are about to post something, ask yourself “Is this something I would be interested in?” If the answer is no, chances are that your followers will feel the same way.

Step 7: Learn from the Best

Find users with several hundred followers and learn from them. See what they are doing right and get ideas from them.

Done right, Twitter Marketing can lead to positive exposure for your business. Companies have been known to make tens of thousands of dollars from customers that found them through a Twitter account. Depending on your business, Twitter could be one of the most successful weapons in your Internet Marketing arsenal.

Get Your Ads and Articles Noticed

Do you post to message boards, Articles Directories, Forum discussion lists, classified ads sites, FFA sites or newsgroups? Posting ads and articles to various sites are a great way to get noticed and attract others to your site. But what draws people to some ads or articles but ignore others? Well, people will usually read the subject line before they read your ad or article, so it's important they get noticed. Below are ten simple, but powerful tips to get your ads or articles noticed.

1. Use extra white space creatively in your subject line. You can add extra blank spaces between your
words or letters.

2. Combine capital letters with lower case letters. Use all capital letters in every other word or use a
capital letter between every other lower case letter.

3. Add text symbols in your subject line. You could use them between words and letters. Start and end
your subject with a text symbol. ( *, $, >,{,] )

4. Begin your subject line with the word "STOP!". People have been trained their whole life to stop
what they are doing when they see that word.

5. Ask people a question in your subject line. We all went to school and were repetitively branded to
answer questions.

6. Use the word "FREE" in your subject line. Your offer should be attractive to your target audience.
It could be free information, software, trials, etc.

7. Begin your subject line with an "online smile :)". People use smiles offline to gain people's attention
and to win their trust, why not use them online too.

8. Don't use unbelievable claims in your subject line. People have or know some who has been ripped
off and trained themselves to ignore those claims.

9. Don't use all capital letters in your subject line. It is hard to read, looks unprofessional, and on the
internet it's considered a symbol for shouting.

10. Test different subject lines to see which ones draws the most traffic to your web site. Also, read
the FAQ before posting a message or ad anywhere.

Generating sales through our ads is one of our goals and using these and other techniques will get you on your way. Remember, they will only work if you do. Riveting Ways to Generate Instant Sales

Instant sales is the dream of all businesses, either on or offline. Of course these days in the increased competition and economic uncertainty one needs to generate these to survive in business. But how does one do this? Well, here's 10 riveting ways to generate, develop and nail down instant sales:

1. End your slow sales periods by planning ahead. Plan to add extra bonuses, hold a sale or package
your product with other products.

2. Make more commissions off the affiliate programs you join by giving your personal endorsements for the products. They usually pull more sales than ads.

3. Speed up your internet access. You can get your online business tasks done faster which will help you stay ahead of your competition.

4. Allow people who do not have time to explore your site to download your web site in ebook format.
This will allow them time to view it offline.

5. Use tons of headlines and sub headlines on your web site. This will keep their attention and keep them at your web site longer.

6. Take advantage of popular fads. If something is popular at the current time, put up a web site about
it. Just promote your main site on the fad web site.

7. Allow your prospects to chose between a retail or wholesale price. Charge people a membership
fee to always get the products at wholesale cost.

8. Allow other related web sites that don't have a chat room to link to yours. They'll get use of a free
chat room and you'll draw extra traffic to your site.

9. Increase the perceived value of your free stuff or bonuses by including the retail dollar amount the
freebie would normally sell for.

10. Create your own web ring. You will gain highly targeted traffic to your web site and others will link to your site because they'll want to join the ring.

Generating sales is our goal and using these and other techniques will get you on your way. They will only work if you do. Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to assist you in your marketing efforts. Remember we're all int his together and I'm pulling for you.

How To Outsell Your Competition

Competition is not bad for a business as it shows that there is demand in the market. However it would be nice to be the leader and outsell your competition. The key to outselling your competition is to compare your product to theirs. When you find the differences between products, use your findings to improve your product. Below are 12 things you can compare and improve upon to outsell your competition.

1. Price- Can you offer a lower price? Can you offer a higher price and increase the perceived value of
your product? Do you offer easier payment options than your competition?

2. Packaging- Can you package your product more attractively? Do the colors of your package relate to
your product? Can you package your product into a smaller or larger package?

3. Delivery- Can you offering cheaper shipping? Do you have a high enough profit margin to offer free
shipping? Can you ship your products faster?

4. Benefits- Can you offer more benefits than your competition? Are your benefits stronger? Do you
have believable proof that supports your claims?

5. Quality- Is your product built and tested to last longer than your competition? Can you improve the
overall quality of your product?

6. Performance- Can you make your product faster at solving your customers problem? Is your product
easier to use than your competitions?

7. Features- Can you offer more product features than your competition? Do your features support the
benefits you offer?

8. Availability- Is your product always available or do your have to backorder it? Can your product
suppliers drop ship to your customers?

9. Extras- Do you provided free bonuses when your customers buy your product? Are your bonuses more valuable than your competitions?

10. Service- Do you offer your customers free 24 hour customer service? Can you provide free product
repair? Does your competition make their customers talk to a machine?

11. Proof- Can you provide more proof than your competition that your product is reliable? Can you
provide stronger testimonials or endorsements?

12 Guarantees- Do you have a stronger guarantee than your competition? Do you offer warranties with
your product? Do you provide an easier return policy?

Again use as many of these techniques as you can and mix and match and watch the results. Remember these won't work unless you actually use them. Also don't do negative selling as that tends to raise red flags in client's minds. We're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Why They Won't Buy From You

You do the social media, email and list marketing techniques to the letter. You are sure that the traffic you have is targeted and your niche is a “hot market”. But even though you are getting traffic, the sales don't seem to show up. What could be the reason people are forgoing buying form you? Here's 10 possible reasons:

1. You don't make people feel safe when they order. Remind people that they are ordering through a secure server. Tell them you won't sell their e-mail address and all their information will be kept confidential.

2. You don't make your ad copy attractive. Your ad lists features instead of benefits. The headline does not attract at your target audience. You don't list any testimonials or guarantees included in your ad.

3. You don't remind people to come back and visit. People usually don't purchase the first time they visit. The more times they visit your site, the greater the chance they will buy. The most effective way is to give them a free subscription to your e-zine.

4. You don't let people know anything about your business. They will feel more comfortable if they know who they are buying from. Publish a section called "About Us" on your web site. Include your business history, profile of employees, contact information etc.

5. You don't give people as many ordering options as possible. Accept credit cards, checks, money orders, and other forms of electronic payments. Take orders by phone, e-mail, web site, fax, mail, etc.

6. You don't make your web site look professional. You want to have your own domain name. Your web site should be easy to navigate through. The graphics should be related to the theme of your web site.

7. You don't let people read your ad before they get your freebie. When you use free stuff to lure people to your web site include it below your ad copy or on another web page. If you list the freebie above your ad they may never look to see what you're selling.

8. You don't attract the target audience that would buy your product or service. A simple way to do this is to survey your existing customers to see what attracted them to buy. This information will help you improve your target marketing and advertising.

9. You don't test and improve your ad copy. There are many people who write an ad copy and never change it. You have to continually test and improve your ad copy to get the highest possible response
rate.

10. You don't give people any urgency to buy now. Many people are interested in your product but they put off buying it till later and eventually forget about it. Entice them to buy now with a freebie or discount and include a deadline date when the offer ends.

Of course if you are selling Buggy Whips in a Automobile market one will have trouble making sales. So make sure the products you sell make sense to the market you are trying to reach.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to help wit your marketing efforts. Remember we're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Easy and Low Cost Techniques to Multiply Your Sales

Regardless of what the “Doom and Gloom” naysayers on television and in print are saying, people are still making purchases and getting along in life. However if you see a bit of a downturn in your sales here are some low cost and easy tricks you can try:

1. When you make your first sale, follow-up with the customer. You could follow-up with a "thank you" email and include an advertisement for other products you sell. You could follow-up every few months.

2. You could upsell to your customers. When they're at your order page, tell them about a few extra related products you have for sale. They could just add it to their original order.

3. Tell your customers if they refer four customers to your web site, they will receive a full rebate of their purchase price. This will turn one sale into three sales.

4. When you sell a product, give your customers the option of joining an affiliate program so they can make commissions selling your product. This will multiply the sale you just made.

5. Sell the reprint/reproduction rights to your products. You could include an ad on or with the product for other products you sell. You could make sales for the reproduction rights and sales on the back end product.

6. You could cross promote your product with other businesses' products in a package deal. You can
include an ad or flyer for other products you sell and have other businesses selling for you.

7. When you ship out or deliver your product, include a coupon for other related products you sell in the package. This will attract them to buy more products from you.

8. Send your customers a catalog of add-on products for the original product they purchased. This could be upgrades, special services, attachments, etc. If they enjoy your product they will buy the extra add-ons.

9. Sell gift certificates for your products. You'll make sales from the purchase of the gift certificate, when the recipient cashes it in. They could also buy other items from your web site.

10. Send your customers free products with their product package. The freebies should have your ad
printed on them. It could be bumper stickers, ball caps, t-shirts etc. This will allow other people to see
your ad and order.

These are just a sampling of the techniques you can use. Try one at first and add on as you grow your business. Come back next week for more tricks, tips and techniques to assist your marketing efforts. Remember, we're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Your Business Is Failing? Here's Possible Reasons Why

Excuses, everyone has them and they especially run fast and furious during down times. Yes it is easy to point fingers all around, but what really needs to happen is deep introspection into the real reasons. Yes it is hard, and the answers might not be pleasant, but finding solutions works better than worrying about problems. Here are some ideas that might help you resurrect your business:

1. You don't offer free original content.

2. You don't use a signature file on your e-mails.

3. You don't offer free software.

4. You don't have your own domain name.

5. You don't offer a free contest or sweepstakes.

6. You don't test and improve your ad copy.

7. You don't offer a free web site directory.

8. You don't give people any urgency to buy now.

9. You don't offer a free e-zine.

10. You don't attract the target audience that would
buy your product or service.

11. You don't offer a free community.

12 You don't let people read your ad before they get
your freebie.

13. You don't offer a free affiliate program.

14. You don't make your web site look professional.

15. You don't offer a free online service.

16. You don't give people as many ordering options
as possible.

17. You don't offer free current information.

18. You don't let people know anything about your
business.

19. You don't offer free samples of your product
or service.

20. You don't make people feel safe and secure
when they order.

Now there might be other reasons (offering machines that run only MS-DOS, or obsolete services) but for an online business these pretty much sum up the problem. So go ahead and put a few in place and see what happens.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks, and techniques to assist in your marketing efforts. We're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Twittering Your Life Away

Okay okay we all get it, “Twitter” is the greatest thing since, since,.. well since the last greatest thing since... If I see one more blog post about how to use “twitter” and other social media I will scream. Most of these posts are just repurposed and recycled garbage. They offer no insight nor do they say anything new. Stop already and show some creativity.

The main trouble with Twitter is that in order to do anything productive one needs followers. To get followers, one needs to follow. This can lead to a bunch of flotsam and jetsam floating your way. There are those that actually will send dozens of “tweets” your way, and by the way to everyone else, that your tweets tend to get lost in the fog. Yes this is a problem and a big one as there is no real way to get your message across without sending the messages every minute or so. That is of course considered bad practice, so you will lose followers and then of course you will need to find more, and son and so forth until you just rip out your hair and scream.

The only people who are making money off twitter are thse that got in early and sold a bunch of ebooks on using titter. Yes the posts come in so fast and furious that one cannot keep up with it unless you are n it 24/7/365. If your customers or potential clients aren't on 24/7/365, well your message has a snowball's chance in July to make it through to them.

If you don't know anything about Twitter, Facebook, Linked-In, etc, then where have you been hiding? Social sites are the next big thing, or was last year. You see once the main media starts talking about something being new and exciting, one knows it has been around for at least a couple of years and is old hat, and probably on it's way out of fashion. Yes there is way too much coverage overload. Anyone remember MySpace? Last year this was supposed to be the “wave of the future”, and anyone who is anyone was supposed to be on it and active. Does anyone really use it anymore besides college students, old ladies and porn sites? I didn't think so either.

The thing is these so called “Social Sites” are nothing more than Chat Rooms and BBS' with better graphical ability. There is nothing new about them, or their concepts. It is just the ability to store pictures and videos that separate them from their ancestors. In fact the BBS' and chat rooms evolved from old networking meetings in the days before the Internet (Yes Virginia there was a time, long ago called the 1980's before the Internet was available to all). So the old rules of civility and dealing with other people apply. Whatever worked in 17th Century France, works still today.

I know it is boring to say that these sites are just upgrades and updates, I mean one has to sell the service right? One has to sell newscasts before they become the next newspapers, anachronisms in the modern age. Yes newspapers are on their way out, and television newscasts are to be the buggy whips of the 21st century. So they need to try to stay “hip” and “cool” (yes I actually heard those terms on a newscast the other day by some dork who was trying to prove she was “with it”.) by showing they are into “today's technology”. The problem is that it is yesterday's news. Why is this so? Because in order for them to talk about it, it has to be safe.

But I regress...

Yes Social sites are good if you just respect their uses and give as much as you want to receive. For marketers one does need to use them, and they are great places to make contacts, but beware of all the flotsam and jetsam that one has to wade through before finding the gold.

Social sites and Web 2.0, use them but don't count on them to be a magic bullet. Hard work, persistence, and good service/products will win the day.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and tips to assist you in your marketing efforts. Remember, we're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Attract New Customers With These Traffic Tips

Traffic is key to making it online. Of course getting traffic is not the easiest thing in the world to get. Here are some techniques that you can use to produce more traffic to your site.

1. Give Away An Electronic Information Product

The product could be a simple report posted on your Web site or autoresponder to a downloadable e-book. The information product should relate to your target audience. Just place your advertisement somewhere on the product. Allow other people to give away the information product to attract even more customers.

2. Offer Free Consulting Via E-mail

Allow potential customers to ask you specific questions relating to the subject of your business. Giving away free advice can show your prospects your expertise and give you instant credibility. Another benefit is when you e-mail them back the free advice or information include your signature file to get free advertising.

3. Hold A Free Chat Room Seminar

People go to seminars to learn about a particular subject. With chat rooms you don't need to fear public speaking or spend money to rent out a seminar room. You can use your own chat room or hold the seminar in someone else's. Holding a chat room seminar is an incredible way to get free publicity. Just send a press release to the media announcing your free seminar.

4. Start A Free-To-Join Club

Having people join your club is a creative way to attract new customers. People want to belong to something, why not your online club. The club should be related to your product or service. You could give away a free e-mail newsletter for club members only . Have a members only message board, e-mail discussion group or chat room. Post your advertisements on all the club information.

5. Provide Your Product Or Service For Almost Free

Tell potential customers you'll accept barter deals for your products or services. You may not be getting money but they will become your customers. If they are satisfied they might pay money the next time they make a purchase. Barter for things to improve your business or your own personal life.

Put these tips to good use and see your traffic increase. Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to assist your marketing efforts.

Remember, we're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

How Your Web Site Text Impacts Buying Decisions

Everyone is big these days on getting the flashiest graphics, fancy videos and other visually pleasing and attention grabbing gizmos. However there is one old standby that subconsciously effects your customer's buying decisions when it comes to your web site. The appearance of your text.

The appearance of your web site text can actually increase or decrease your sales. The size, font, style
and color of your text can easily affect your reader's buying decision. Below are ten points to consider
when typing text on your web site.

1. Easy To Read- You want to make it easy for your visitors to read your text. You don't want to use a light colored text like yellow on a white background and you don't want to use dark blue text on a black background.

2. Create A Mood- You want to use the color of your text to create a mood for the reader. If you want
to create excitement, use some red text. If you want to create greed, use a some green text. Use colors that would put you in a mood to buy your product.

3. Grab Their Attention- You can grab your readers attention by using headlines. Make the headline more noticeable by using a different colored headline than your ad copy. This offsets the headline and pulls the reader into the rest of your ad copy.

4. Highlight Keywords- You can emphasize phrases and keywords that are important to your readers. For instance, use super, deluxe, fast, low price, free, new, etc. You could use bolding, underlining, italics, color changing, etc.

5. Sizing It Up- You don't want to use text that is too small or to large. You want to use larger text for your headlines and subheadings. You want to use smaller text for your ad copy. If your grandparents can't read it, it's too small.

6. Don't Use All CAPS!- You don't want to use all capital letters in your ad copy. It looks unprofessional and is hard to read. You may want to use all CAPS in your headlines to offset it.

7. Font Properly- You want to use a text font that relates to the product or services your selling. You
don't want to use a comic type font when your selling business books.

8. Spacing Out- It's important to use spaces properly when typing your text. You should indent and bullet key benefits your product or service will give the reader. Your headlines, subheadings, sentences and paragraphs should be consistently spaced throughout your web site.

9. I Need Sunglasses- Don't use all bright text colors and backgrounds on your web site. It will make your text hard to read and actually bother your readers' eyes to the point they just decide to leave your site.

10. Check The Readability- It's important to check your spelling and grammar before you upload your
web page. When writing an ad copy you're allowed to break some of those grammar rules to get your point across.

The Secrets Of Forum Marketing Exposed

Forums are just the Web 2.0 versions of the old Chat Rooms from the BBS days. You will find them on all social Networking sites (such as Facebook, Linked In etc.) and some Wordpress blogs. These can be a boom or a bust depending upon on you use them and how you act in them. If you are careful and polite they can be a goldmine in marketing your business. If not they can leave people with a bad taste for you and your services.

Forum Marketing is the use of online forums to promote your product or service. forums are usually broken into categories. Find the right forum where your targeted audience would gather. Create a forum profile with your ad, business info, or signature file in it. Announce to everyone in the forum something interesting or free that's offered on your web site. This will draw visitors to your web site. Always be aware of forum rules before engaging the visitors in a sales pitch that could be considered SPAM.

Send electronic messages to target people in the forum that would be interested in your products or services. Start a conversation with them. After a few moments indirectly bring your sales pitch into the conversation. This is a great way to do one-on-one selling electronically. Do not directly SPAM them with your messages.

Marketing With Your Web Site's Forum

Just having a forum on your Web site can create an online community and bring visitors to your Web site. Host a free online seminar in your forum about a subject of your expertise. Use a forum to meet with current customers if they have any questions or problems. Regularly schedule free events in your forum. Schedule experts to speak in your forum.

Host other people's forums as an expert. Charge for doing this to earn extra money or just do it for free to gain publicity. Make sure your spelling and grammar is correct when chatting, so people understand what you are typing.

Use some forum emotions and acronyms to help people understand you're typing.

Use " :D " to show your laughing

Use " :) " to show you are smiling

Use " BTW " which means "by the way"

Use " FAQ " which means "frequently asked questions"

Use " IMHO " which means "in my humble opinion"

Use " LOL " which means "laughing out loud"

Use " TU " which means "thank you"

Marketing your products or services in forums is a more personal way to gain new customers. Prospects are actually communicating with you instead of reading your ad. You may even make a few friends along the way.
Remember to know the rules before you post and advertise. Following the rules and being helpful will go a long way to building your reputation and your business.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques to assist in your marketing efforts. Remember that we're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Need New Product Ideas? Try These 10 Techniques.

The life cycle of a product is finite, so in order to keep sales moving forward one needs to find new products to sell. Affiliate programs are good way to start, but one needs their own product for true sustainable success. But how does one go about deciding what product to develop? Also how does one get ideas for new ideas? Here are 10 techniques that will get you started.

1. Solve an existing problem for people. There are thousands of problems in the world. Create a product that can provide a solution to one of those problems.

2. Find out what's the current hot trend. You can find out what the new trends are by watching T.V, reading magazines and surfing the net. Just create a product that's related to the current hot trend.

3. Improve a product that is already on the market. You see products at home, in ads, at stores etc. Just take a product that's already out there and improve it.

4. Create a new niche for a current product. You can set yourself apart from your competition by creating a niche. Your product could be faster, bigger, smaller, or quicker than you competitor's product.

5. Add on to an existing product. You could package your current product with other related products. For example, you could package a football with a team jersey and football cards.

6. Reincarnate an older product. Maybe you have a book that's out of print and is no longer being sold. You could change the title, design a new front cover, and bring some of the old content up to date.

7. Ask your current customers. You could contact some of your existing customers by phone or e-mail and ask them what kind of new products they would like to see on the market.

8. Combine two or more products together to create a new one. For example, you could take a brief case and add a thermos compartment inside to keep a drink hot or cold.

9. Survey the people who visit your web site. You could post a survey or questionnaire on your web site. Ask visitors what kind of products they would like to see on the market.

10. You could create a new market for your existing product. For example, if you're selling plastic bottles to a pop company, you could turn around and sell those bottles to a fruit drink company.

You don't have to implement all 10 of these techniques right away. Put one or two into operation at a time and see what works. You just might surprise yourself as you dream up even more ways.

Come back next week for more tips tricks and techniques to assist you in your marketing effort. Remember we're all in this together and I'm pulling for you.

Sales are the lifeblood of any business and organization. During good times it seems like anything one does works out and it seems like things will go on forever. Ah yes how does one ignite sales during a downturn? Here are some tricks one can try and use to ignite sales during these hard times.

Web 2.0 For Beginners

All the talk the last few years have been of Web2.0 this, Web 2.0 that etc, etc. Believe it or not there are a lot of people still confused about what Web 2.0 is all about.

Well what exactly is Web2.0? Well it is nothing more than an upgrade in the way we communicate. Web 1.0 was all about static web pages, Usenet groups, Multiple User Dungeons (games like Doom, and Dungeons and Dragons) and basic chat forums. Web 2. is the same, except the technology now exists for these groups, forums games and web pages to be interactive. We now have sound and video on our pages, we are able to communicate directly with others through Live Chat and Instant Messaging. We can even play nice instead of just shooting at one another (though those games still exist for those into that sort of thing, but again gamers can form cooperative teams instead of going it alone). In a word, Web 2.0 is about community.

We become more of a community. We cooperate more with each other, we collaborate on projects through web applications. We have meetings now across continents without anyone having to leave their home base. It is a sharing time. Even the gamers are in on this one forming teams and community groups (like Sims and its clones). Web 2.0 brings us all together on the web. It crosses all boundaries and borders. It is bringing humanity closer to its goal of oneness. The only roadblock are governments that try to oppress free speech and access to the net, and of course petty forum and site managers who do the same due to their own biases and hatreds.

The second is more prevalent and more dangerous as people try to express different views, but when say someone disagrees with the current group think (like when a conservative tries to debate on a liberal site, or a vice versa, they get blocked, called a racist fascist and other similar names) they get blocked by the petty little dictators running the site. This is the biggest threat to free speech in the 21st century.

But I regress.

What might one say are the tools of Web 2.0, and how does one use them?

They are simply:

Blogs – used to voice one's thoughts, opinions, knowledge or just whatever in print, audio and/or video.
Video – used to promote oneself and ideas or just to say hello and “Look At Me”.
Podcasts – using audio to voice one's thoughts, opinions etc.
Social Sites – Where people come together in community like atmospheres
Twitter – used to tell people what you are doing at any given moment in your life.
Live Chats – Software that allows visitors to your site to contact you to ask questions
Misc – Sites like Digg, Buzz Up, etc that rank popularity by others voting on your content.

These are just a few of the many tools out there, and they seem to be the most popular at the moment. The trick is to go and use as many of these as possible in your marketing efforts if you expect to survive in today's modern business environment.

Over the next few weeks I will be discussing these and their uses in more detail. In addition I will discuss other aspects to Web 2.0, so be sure to visit weekly.
To sum it all up, Web 2.0 is about coming together to better understand us all better.

Come back next week for more tips, tricks and techniques. Remember we're all in this together, and I'm pulling for ya.

Viral Marketing is allowing people to giveaway and use your free product or service in order to multiply your marketing quickly over the internet. The idea behind viral marketing is that you include your ad with the freebie people giveaway or use. Below are ten high impact viral marketing strategies:

1. Allow people to reprint your articles on their web site, in their e-zine, newsletter, magazine or ebooks. Include your resource box and the option for article reprints at the bottom of each article.

2. Allow people to use any of your freebies as free bonuses for products or services they sell. Include your ad on all your freebies.

3. Allow people to use your online discussion board for their own web site. Some people don't have one. Just include your banner ad at the top of the board.

4. Allow people to sign up for a free web site on your server. Since you are giving away the space, require them to include your banner ad at the top of the site.

5. Allow people to add their link to your free web site directory. Just require that they return a link back to your web site, advertising your directory.

6. Allow people to provide your free online service to their web site, visitors, or e-zine subscribers. They could be free e-mail, e-mail consulting, search engine submissions, etc.

7. Allow people to give away your free software. Just include your business advertisement inside the software program.

8. Allow people to give away your free web design graphics, fonts, templates, etc. Just include your ad on them or require people to link directly to your web site.

9. Allow people to place an advertisement in your free ebook if, in exchange, they give away the ebook to their web visitors or e-zine subscribers.

10. Allow people to give away your free ebook to their visitors. Then, their visitors will also give it away. This will just continue to spread your ad all over the internet.

As always there is no one size fits all, so try a few, mix and match and find the right mix for your company.
